Matching Gifts

Many companies encourage employees to make charitable donations through their corporate matching gift program. Check with your company to determine if your donation qualifies for a corporate match.

Tributes and Memorials

A wonderful way honor a special person or occasion is through a tribute or a memorial gift that celebrates the memory of a loved one, an anniversary or a landmark birthday. Your memorial or tribute gift is tax-deductible.

Planned Giving

We welcome all forms of charitable giving and are happy to work with you and your financial advisor to craft language that represent your goals in considering a planned gift.

Here are some of the most common planned giving strategies:

Charitable Bequests and Legacy Gifts

You can make the Yolo County Library Foundation a beneficiary in your will by giving a specific amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder of your estate.

Appreciated Securities

You may consider giving outright gifts of appreciated securities, which can reduce your income and estate taxes and avoid capital gain taxes entirely. Giving appreciated securities can be used for both annual and major gifts. The entire fair market value of the stock is fully tax-deductible and, by transferring stock directly to the Yolo County Library Foundation, donors avoid capital gain taxes.

Life Insurance

You may make the Yolo County Library Foundation the beneficiary of your life insurance policies. When an existing policy is donated, the owner may deduct, as a charitable contribution, the current value of the policy or the net cost of the policy, if this is less than the current value. In addition, future premium payments are also deductible after ownership has transferred to the Yolo County Library Foundation.

We can help you and your financial advisor find the gift structure that will provide the best combination of financial and tax advantage, while supporting the mission of the Yolo County Library Foundation.
